E P A , represented by the Department of Biodiversity Conservation, started implementing the first phase of the Coastal Rehabilitation Project in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman.

The project is to plant the seeds of the germ trees in one of the reserves in the country, in cooperation with the Omani expert Bader Al Balushi, where local staf were trained to plant more than 500 seeds of the tree.

The tree was chosen because it is can live on the shores of the sea and is highly saline. It increases purity of water and stabilizes coastal soil. It also forms an ecosystem of coastal marine life,
